Maybe my fan-dom of Ginger has made it around the world and back? And others are just making these ginger treats for my benefit. I realize the reality that there are others that share the same passion.
LA Burdick, a small chain of shops, located in New England and New York City. One store, located in the Back Bay, I imagine is like the others – a chocolate lover’s haven. It is also a ginger fan’s dream – Chocolate Dipped Ginger.
I have had more than one Dipped Ginger in my Time – it’s normally hard and bitter and completely covered in chocolate. Frankly, I am rarely ever a fan. The Burdick dipped ginger only covers half of the crystallized ginger. It’s a high quality crystallized ginger as it firm to the initial bite, and then chewy once you get into it. Along with the chocolatier’s mastery of his medium, the ginger is a highlight. When you purchase the ginger, the ginger comes in a well presented bag.
Badge of Honor
As you can see I sneaked some Ginger treats before taking my snapshots, I highly recommend these amazing treats. I’ve had a number of bags of them, and I want more, as I am sure you will.
You can visit the shop in Back Bay, and experience it yourself.
In life, one finds these small little shops, gems of a time gone by, specialty shops – the butcher, the bakery and the cheese shop. These gems are awesome, and unfortunately they are few and far between – big supermarkets are fast taking over the real estate, and making it difficult to find. There are many gems in Wellesley, Massachusetts – Wasik’s Cheese Shop.
Wasik’s Cheese Shop is a treat, right on RT135. You can find free parking during the holidays, and during the week you can pay the meter for some shopping time. If you plan to sneak in and out of Wasik’s good luck – put at least 30 minutes on the meter. Friday took 30 minutes in the store – long lines and lots of interest.
While the Cheese Shop is interesting, this blog isn’t about Cheese it’s about Ginger. Wasik’s has great gourmet products from around the World – Cheese, Goose, Cured Meats, Crackers, Chocolates, Candies. You know I can’t resist a delicacy when it has ginger.
Wasik’s shelves had a unique chocolate from jcoco chocolates – on dasher on ginger. It’s a nice dark chocolate with crisp and cruchy candied ginger in dark chocolate. It’s not too sweet – ginger or chocolate, and is nice to consume in small chunks of chocolate. I recommend going to Wasik’s for the experience of a gem, and I recommend the jcoco chocolates.
As the Chocolate Therapy’s box inserts and website say “A truly unique experience of milk chocolate, ginseng ganache topped with a ginger gellee!” I’m getting ahead of myself. I needed to go to Bed Bath and Beyond to get my domestic skills upgraded. I see out of the corner of my eye the magic word… “Chocolate”. It is, after all the perfect gift.
I walk over to the store (a parking lot away), and enter a well appointed shop. I see two cases full of chocolate art. Many of the treats catch my eye. My purchase included two of the following – Refresh.
It’s interesting, I’d recommend trying it, but don’t make it your only purchase. A variety makes it worthwhile.
